LYRICS
QUE SERA SERA (When I was a little boy...)
This song has been sung on the terraces for years now and has changed from the classic "We're going to Wemberley" to "Shoot the Pompey scum." This old song was recently re-released by Hermes House Band but has been sung by football fans long before this. It is one of the more popular Saints songs which really shows our hatred towards the blue slime. We believe this version was founded on the Archers Road (RIP).
When I was just a little boy,
I asked my mother,
What shall I be,
Shall I be Pompey?
Shall I be Saints?
Here's what she said to me,
Wash your mouth out son,
Go get your father's gun,
And shoot the Pompey scum,
And support the Saints.
(We hate Pompey, We hate Pompey)
Que sera sera,
Whatever will be will be,
We're back home at St. Mary's,
Que sera sera.
This song is also one of those classic football songs which seems to appear all over the country albeit with different lyrics. When we first moved to our new home, this masterpiece crept its head out from the St. Mary's stands. The club was founded in the St. Mary's area of Southampton and the Saints supporters found it fitting to sing this to welcome the players and new fans back home.
