Matthew Le Tissier may have retired but his legend lives on thanks to the efforts of a Spanish Saint!
Javier Igeno Cano has compiled a remarkable CD-Rom chronicling the Southampton star's career and his emotion-filled testimonial.
It is a true labour of love, designed as a comprehensive tribute to the mercurial magician whose loyalty and devotion to the club has been matched by the Marbella-based Saints fan himself.
Just as Le Tissier turned down many opportunities to cash in on his talent, so Javier is doing this for the fans rather than for personal gain.
Incredibly he is giving away CD-Roms to anyone who wants one!
Not surprisingly he has been inundated with requests which have meant him having to set up an almost permanent conveyor belt burning discs through the night ready to send out.
And almost as soon as they are completed, he can be sure there are twice as many new orders waiting for him!
He is hoping that some fans will help take some of the burden off him by copying the discs and sending them out to friends themselves.
Although he is providing a free service many fans have sent him souvenirs or small tokens of appreciation in return and there is no doubt he deserves them for this excellent venture.
It is packed with pictures, interviews, video clips, stats and screensavers and it chronicles his career, complete with penalty record and glowing account of his testimonial night. There are plenty of tributes including one from Ronnie Ekelund.
Javier said: "It has proved incredibly popular In the first 48 hours alone I got more than 150 emails from all around the world, including Australia, USA, Norway, Sweden, Holland, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Hong Kong, Singapore, France, Denmark, Finland, New Zealand, even Portsmouth!
"I've already sent out more than 1,000 discs and may have to stop soon because it is just becoming such a big thing - far more than I ever dreamed.
"I have dedicated nearly 5 months to it. I cannot ask for money as it is a tribute for free and I don't want anybody to think I will earn a penny from it.
"Fans cannot pay the postage and packing as there are no agreements for that between England and Spain but I am hoping to set up chains where I send a disc to a few fans in England and they will copy it and send it on.
"It's not a perfect biography but is the fans' project for Matt and it's complete now at last! I am proud of having those pieces of videos, images, voices and stats together, and help from the fans to make it more special, plus the special help of Ronnie Ekelund. I am proud of that."
Le Tissier said: "It is a remarkable effort and I am very flattered that someone has gone to so much trouble for me. I am made up with it!
"It will be a nice easy way for me to remember some of the statistics from my career! And it is a lovely souvenir of my testimonial."
