Welcome to SingaSaints  -  the Singapore Southampton FC Supporters Club!  No glory hunters, no Beckham fans, no skates!                                  "I see other clubs with bigger and better stadiums and more finances but they have not got the warmth this club has got." Saint Cheong Yong

Name Foo Cheong Yong

Nickname None unfortunately, just like the Saints in recent years without any trophies :)

Fav Players Plenty in the past: the Wallace brothers were tremendous and underrated. Growing up I had the pleasure of watching the likes of Keegan, Williams, Moran, Wright, Channon, Armstrong at the Dell especially during the great McMenemy days. My current fav player is Marsden.

Year I got hooked on Saints Ever since the FA Cup Final of 1976.

Why Saints I suppose it's part karma and part forced upon because on Cup Final day in 1976, my elder brother made me support the Saints as he had already chosen to back Man U (later on I discovered that he knew the difference between a Div 1 and Div 2 team). Since then I've found that Saints are the only team whose performance and results excite me. As there are perhaps a million reasons why I should support another or 'bigger' club, I can only put my support for the Saints down to karma - it's just meant to be.

What I expect of SingaSaints Make it possible for us fans to share the joys and sorrows of supporting the Saints with fellow-Saints. (We are quite an endangered species as well as a long-suffering lot.) Meeting up is great especially when Saints are on tv.

What I want to see on this site Certainly Saints news and information about fellow-supporters (a who's who list of supporters in Singapore would be nice).

Nationality Singaporean

Saints' best 11 (or 12) Shilton, Bridge, Mills, Wright, Williams, Case, Channon, Keegan, Le Tissier, Shearer, Rod Wallace - sorry for being so attack-minded. Of course this team would have to be managed by the greatest coach to be shunned by England, Lawrie McMenemy.

Most magical moment as a Saints fan I waited with great anticipation for Kevin Keegan's Saints debut when I read of his transfer from Hamburg. Although he didn't score - I think it was the season opener in 1983/4 v. Everton - I still have a picture of King Kev doing a scissors kick in mid-air somewhere in my scrapbook. That moment on, Saints were playing their best football for a long while which really re-ignited my love for them.

Worst moment as a Saints fan Quite a few (especially in the last few years) but none more intolerable than last season's 1-3 defeat by Man U at St. Mary's. I can swallow a loss - after all as a Saints fan I am used to it - but the manner our lads folded and let Man U walk all over them with the arrogance only Man U can display was downright disgraceful. We were horrible and made Man U look like teachers out to teach young punks a lesson. I remember the agony of each passing minute as we were being outclassed in our own backyard. Nobody in the Saints line-up that day can defend their performance except Beattie who scored a wonder goal before being stretchered off having twisted his ankle. Glad to see that although a large part of that team is still around today, that sort of performance hasn't been repeated.
